A man named Steve Paul tried to recruit me into what sounded a lot like a pyramid scheme. I initially approached him on recommendation of a friend who bought appliances off of him, looking for the same for myself. Midway through our conversation about appliances I made an offhanded comment about looking for side work, as he mentioned a gig he had going himself with some Amazon stick things. He immediately lowered his voice and started telling me he was part of a group that would turn any $5000 investment into $30-40000 easily, I just have to recruit 2 people. Typical pyramid scheme. Said it was tax free, using secret names and everything. Absolutely ridiculous. Go somewhere expecting to buy appliances from someone you've been told is awesome for getting good deals, end up walking out empty handed and feeling a little bit betrayed that a "reliable" person tried to scam you.
I got my daughter to type this up, since I'm not very computer smart, but I hope it prevents anyone else from falling for this.
