Scam
She scheduled an appointment for him on Sunday afternoon at 9171 Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills, California 90210, 5th floor. She mentioned that the agency is called Pink Models.
I became concerned about the appointment. My son researched Pink Models Agency and found out it is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Our suspicions grew when we couldn't find any information about Pink Models in Los Angeles through a Google search.
Despite our concerns, my son went to the interview. The building was closed, but he called Niki, who let him in. They met in a conference room on the 5th floor. She asked about his goals and experience in modeling, talked about the agency's work in various modeling areas, and asked for his pictures.
Niki then told my son he needed to renew his portfolio and get seven outfits that showcased his personality and skills. She said her secretary would call him if they were interested.
The next day, Niki texted my son, saying she was busy but would take him on. This confused me, so I called the building the next day. The person in charge of the rental space hung up on me when I mentioned the modeling agency. When I called again, another person confirmed that there was a modeling agency called Pink Models there but advised me to get more details from the agency itself.
Later, a photographer called my son about a photography session, saying an agent had given him my son’s number. The photographer was straightforward and unfriendly, instructing my son to bring five different shirts, pants, and shoes. He demanded $325 and later texted my son to meet at his place: 7533 Jumilla Avenue, Winnetka, California 91306.
When my son asked for the photographer's information, he hesitated to give his full name and website. He initially called himself Jim, then Jake Golden. We found out his website, visart7.com, listed a different name, Gene Golden. His Instagram handle is @goldg716.
Additionally, when my son received the call from Niki, the caller ID displayed "Huling, Sharon" as the wireless caller. Niki later told my son she referred him to a print photographer with experience in the industry and that he needed to pay for his pictures to create a comp card for auditions.
I am afraid that more kids are being scammed by this group. They likely found my son’s information on Backstage or All Casting. I suggest you consult with trusted, experienced individuals in the industry and thoroughly check online information.
By the way, here is the IG of the agent: @ms.nikki.mgt
Type of a scam Worthless Problem-solving Service Scam
Two months ago, before my foot injury, I received a phone call from a woman named 'Jessica' who claims to be an agent for Pink Models Management and said she got my information from a 'referral' but never mentioned who.
We set up an interview/appointment, and so I visited the office. It was on a Sunday afternoon so no one was in the office, just me and her. She looked through my printed photos, then asked about my goals, modeling background, etc.
She insisted with a straightforward attitude that I update my comp card with industry-standard photos to begin booking jobs, but NEVER talked about signing me. She said she liked me because of my "green" persona and understanding mindset.
She gave me 4 weeks to heal from the injury, which I did, then her recommended photographer called me to schedule a date/time for the photoshoot.
He asked for $325, but the agent not once mentioned me having to pay him.
Note that a photographer list wasn't given to me. If a modeling agency is legit, they'd allow you to pick a photographer of your choice in the area, with their contact info.
I did some deeper research of the LA agency, including all socials. Everything just seemed suspicious and false, as well as Jessica's instagram- her real name isn't even Jessica: @ms.nikki.mgt (Verify for yourself)
Keep in mind I was not emailed by this woman RATHER called by phone, I believe she got my number through a third-party casting site like Backstage or AllCasting.com
Something didn't feel right from the very beginning, and when I asked her about the Argentina agency she said "We're also located in LA" and that they also represent Latin models. HOWEVER, when you look up the actual Pink Models website, it's emphasized "exclusive agency" in their country only.
I obviously did not continue the process and didn't pay for the photoshoot, as I went with my instincts and avoided at all costs.
Photo mill agencies and imposters are VERY common in cities like LA, so anyone aspiring to become a model- please beware.
Anyone will call and get you excited, making you believe that they are for real- when really they just want your money.
