Planeo Employment Scam

I responded to a job posting on Indeed.com for a remote copy editor position. Planeo claims to be an overseas company similar to like, a Best Buy here in the U.S. where they sell all sorts of electronics and home goods. I was told that I would be paid $5 for every 1Kb of text (1Kb = 1024 symbols) that I edited for them. The texts that they sent me were either customer service email responses or internal emails to current employees.

The thing that was a red flag was that there was never any sort of interview process. They simply emailed me in response to my submitting the application and told me that they would be sending me my first assignment that day. I thought it was weird but I did proofread a couple assignments for them. I was told that I would be paid via PayPal every two weeks.

After a few days, I requested that I speak on the phone with whoever it was that was sending me the assignments. I was told that I would be contacted but a week went by with no contact. I said that I would be ceasing all work until I was able to speak with a supervisor. They never messaged me or contacted me again.

I was never paid for the work that I did.

I applied for some remote copyeditor jobs and i got an email from Planeo an e-commerce company based overseas to copyedit their business correspondence. There are similar scams like from a company called Camoby where they tell you there are no more copyediting work and ask you to be an ebay seller and get you to sell some questionable goods.

When I was copy-editing some internal messages for this company, it also appeared that they would ask their sellers to request payment via Bitcoin only. Which to me was very sketchy.
