I originally found Platinum Plus Motors Ohio through an advert for a US spec vehicle on an international website for high end vehicles sold in Germany. The one in question is a 2017 Audi R8 listed at $85k, and valued at $147k. After some contact, the company identified themselves as "Platinum Plus Motors Ohio" offering the sale of high end vehicles at severe discounts by cutting out the face-to-face sales process. They were even able to produce a valid VIN, carfax, and a convincing website. However, after some additional digging, I found that the website is run out of Panama, registered to a phone number in Peru with a P.O. Box, and is only 2 months old (their front page claims to be conducting business since 2009). They offer a "safe and secure" service through an escrow company for the money/vehicle transfer, which is conveniently owned by them to "save costs" (which was the first red flag). My guess is that once the money is transferred, they simply pocket the money and the victim is stuck attempting to deal with an escrow account that doesn't exist and is owned by the scammer. While I did not fall for this scam, others may. Please post this on your scammers list so that other's do not fall victim. Thank you.
