I found a job posting for a remote executive assistant on LinkedIn and was “selected.” For my onboarding, I was sent an offer letter, contract, a check to setup my home office, and a request for a W4 with typical onboarding documents like ID. I complied with everything except for sending my W4. Luckily, I held off until I was sure that the check would go through. The check was returned. ****** ******* was not aggressive in asking for documents but was “too busy” to meet via phone call or video call once I started having suspicions. While waiting for the check to clear, Marcus sent a detailed email on the first task he’d like for me to complete on his behalf. He had an upcoming business conference in Arizona and wanted me to find reputable hotels in the area. Upon closer inspection of the email, there were not any grammatical errors, but his requests were very vague. For example, he did not mention which conference he would be attending and at what venue it was located, only a zip code. He requested the information be presented in “spreadsheet format or any other application with which [I am] most familiar.” Also, he was very vague about what additional details he would need and the timeline for completion of this task. He asked that I download Slack, and communicate there. He gave me a cell number of 470-209-1110. Marcus stopped communicating after I told him that the check had returned. Please use the provided address to identify reputable 4-star hotels. Include the costs of their suites and links to their websites. I would like you to present this information in a spreadsheet format or any other application with which you are most familiar. Additionally, kindly include any other relevant details you can find. I hope to have this task completed by tomorrow, though there is no immediate urgency.

Once I have made my choice, I would appreciate your help verifying the availability of the chosen hotel and, if rooms are available, proceeding with the booking.
