Posing as Facebook Reports & Reviews (1)

My Facebook and Instagram are connected. I got on both at 9am during work on Thursday. By 12pm I was hacked and both accounts were disabled. I got a bunch of random calls at first that I never answered. Finally I ended up googling tech help for Facebook and got a number offline (the number is listed). The guy claimed he worked for FB tech support and told me my account was hacked hence why my account was disabled. He then told me my bank account was being used through Marketplace for purchases in Texas and Vegas. I’ve never been to either place nor do I have family there. I told him that it wasn’t me and he tried to say we needed to make sure the scammers don’t get into my banking account. He then made me download an app called AnyDesk. I’ve never heard of it but I downloaded it. I didn’t realize it could have made my situation worst. It got way worse.

At first I wasn’t concerned because what we were doing didn’t seem weird at first. I only started getting suspicious when he started to ask for larger money amounts to be transferred to names and numbers I didn’t recognize. He then told me to go to cash app and Zelle so that we can make sure the hackers wouldn’t get to any money in those accounts. By now I’m 90% sure I was being scammed. After 2 days of fighting and going in circles the guy told me I needed to transfer a large amount but I needed my bank to approve it and I had to call them. The names he gave me were fake. And even though I was told nothing would happen. I lost all my money within minutes. I have pictures of all the transactions. He made me send money and it got canceled. Then send money again and cancel. Then send a different amount and cancel, he got me to send and cancel for 2 days… Long story short… I played into a scammers game and he won this time.

The guy said his name was Robert Williamson, he even gave me a employee ID number and phone number to report. He told me the only way to reactivate my Facebook was to go through the process, somehow that process involved getting on my bank account. He also said if I felt this was a scam I could go to ScamPulse.com and report him… so here I am.

I’m still confused how everything ties in together, but I learned from my mistake.
