Caller contacted me on my cellphone from Spectrum, but left a voicemail, as I was at work. The message was to secure a discount on my internet service. I called the number they left me and the operator confirmed my account information, location, card on file and address/phone associated with the account. They offered me a three year price lock on my service with a 50% discount, with no contracts. I would have to pay for 15 months in advance, for a total of $420. A credit of $50 was added to my Spectrum account, so I thought it was a legitimate offer. I called them back after I got an authorization code and then they told me that I needed to pay with their account partner (Target) and they would accept gift cards or Target credit card. I don't have a Target credit card, so I purchased gift cards and sent them the information. They confirmed the gift cards and told me to enjoy my three year price lock. I never got a confirmation email, so I contacted my local law enforcement and credit card company, who confirmed this was a scam. I contacted Target, but they were unable to process a refund for gift card fraud.

They called. Left a voicemail. This is the transcription of the voicemail:

“Hi there this is to inform you that spectrum has applied a 50% discount on your monthly bill to keep this offer active please call back at 844-709-7448 from 8 AM to 5 PM Pacific standard time thank you and have a great day…”

This is probably an identity theft scam

Called identifying themselves as spectrum.

Wanting me to sign a contract with spectrum and target for a 50% discount. If I went to target and bought 2 gift cards for $330 each. Then called a specify A spectrum billing number gave me an authorization code and gave me 2 hours to complete the request.
