On Craigslist I found an ad for the Post Office hiring. I called the number and was told they were affiliated with USPS and would provide me studying materials for the exam USPS requires for each potential employee. I was told I didn't need any experience and the positions did not hold any requirements except that I be 18 years of age and a US citizen. I was told it was $70, or 3 payments of $27.50 and if I was not hired by the USPS I would receive a full refund. When I received their email after I submitted my payment, it said I would only be refunded if I didn't pass the exam (which is a very easy exam to pass, but you must be detail oriented and have advanced memory skills to achieve a high score which is a big part of getting hired). I also quickly realized that they were in fact not affiliated with the USPS whatsoever. I began to research and according to www.consumer.ftc.gov as well as USPS, this company and others like it are scammers as the USPS' exam is an aptitude test which cannot be studied for, and they do in fact have requirements (ability to pass a drug test and background check), they also cater to veterans first (which is GREAT!!! Support our troops and veterans!!! <3) but this company failed to disclose this information as well as their lack of affiliation to the USPS and their actual refund policy. www.consumer.ftc.gov recommended for me to report this company to the Federal Trade Commission, USPIS, my State General Attorney, as well as here at the ScamPulse.com. FTC also encouraged me to file a report with my bank and to change my debit card number and I have done so. The scammer company did not want to refund me until I threatened to report them to the places mentioned above. They gave me a confirmation number for my refund and I will be watching my account to make sure it is rightfully refunded. However..not only has this been a time and energy consuming process, I have no way of knowing if they wanted my debit information in order to commit identity theft against me. Please be aware of these companies...never call a 1-800 number that promises you a job, and NEVER give them your payment information. Applying to federal jobs are FREE! Anyone telling you otherwise is a scammer and needs to be reported. The website that scammed me is www.postaljobplacementservices.com but upon my research I have found NUMEROUS websites that are similar to this one, another indication of scamming. Protect yourself!!
