Powell & Sons Reports & Reviews (9)

• Nov 22, 2023

Like has been mentioned a few time already, Powell & Sons website exploits Google's search results "near me" to post a website that appears to be a local business. In this case, vinyl window repair. The only contact mechanism is a form.

Users submit their name, address, email, phone number to get a quote. After submitting the form, the website says, "[Powell and Sons] is unable to provide a quote and will forward the request to contracted partners". Within minutes of submitting the form, I started getting texts and emails from businesses outside of my local area wanting to set up dates and time to stop by to provide a quote. When I started asking questions to verify the service they offer, it became quite clear they knew absolutely no details about my needs - only that I needed Home Improvement.

Powell & Sons is obviously a marketing scam!

I wish I had read these reviews before I submitted my personal information on Powell and Sons website.

Their website is set up to look like they are a landscaping company, even showing a photo of a man with their "company" name. But when you submit your info to contact them, they just sell your info to Angi. God many calls from ANGI contractors for landscaping, then roofing. I called ANGI to stop it.

I was looking for a lawn dethatching company in my area. Www.powellandsons.com came up on Google as a company in my area. I entered my name, address, phone and email to get a free quote. There was no contact number for the company. I immediately received two phishing texts from “PayPal” which I reported to PayPal and also a phone call from Angi @ 517-376-3779

Obvious scam to me since these things happened and no quote was ever given.

I want to report a scam company. Powell and Sons is masquerading as a screen door company (and other home services websites), when in fact they are selling your information as a 3rd party to other companies who perform those services. They are buying ads that make it seem like they are local to your area, but then sell that info to other companies without your consent (unless you read fine print in privacy policy links). I submitted my information to them, thinking they were a local screen door installer, and instead have been getting spam calls from companies I never contacted - I confirmed with one of them where they got the lead. Please fine and flag this company's site. Not sure the official process, but this feels highly illegal. https://powellandsons.com/

I was looking for home repair companies near me and this website showed in Google under sponsored ad, https://powellandsons.com. I filled out form and received a call from an Indian man. I told him I was getting quotes and he hung up. I am now receiving scamming emails multiple times a day and received a text asking me if I am willing to sell my home.

https://powellandsons.com/ Promotes themselves as a family owned/operated company - for tub and sink repair and restoration. The only way to contact them is via a contact from. I filled out the info and submitted it. Included my email and phone number. After submitted I was contacted by numerous companies trying to help me with “a bathroom remodel”. My info is now out there for general public and I did not check a box or give permission to share my info or I would have not proceeded. This is not a family run company but instead some sort of broker/affiliate scam.

Their website is set up to look like they are a contractor company, even showing a photo of a man by a van with their "company" name. But when you submit your info to contact them, they just sell your info to Angi, Home Advisor, etc.

I've tried twice to get local companies for work at Aley church. One of the first websites that comes up on a local search is Powell and Sons, stating that they are voted number 1 in Beavercreek, OH. When you go through the process of explaining what the job is that you need done, a message comes up that they are unable to take the job right now but that your request will go to one of their trusted partners. In seconds, I started getting calls from Angi's List and other agencies about our "project". The most recent time I needed help was for a single windowpane that had been broken out. The callers were all calling about a window project for replacement of multiple windows. It seems nobody actually sees the full content of the "tell us what you need" block. Since there is fine print indicating that you may get calls from other companies, it may not qualify as a scam, but it certainly has that 'bait and switch' feel to it. Thanks for checking into it.

The website exploits Google's search results "near me" to post a website that appears to be a local business. In this case, gutter repair. The only contact mechanism is a form.

Users submit their name, address, email, phone number to get a quote. After submitting the form, the website says Powell and Sons are unable to do the work, and will forward the request to other businesses. Within minutes of submitting the form, I got 3 calls from Florida, 1 call from Maryland, and 1 call from where I live (Pittsburgh PA). It's obviously a marketing scam.

On the privacy policy page, it says "to request your data be deleted or not sold, please complete our Privacy Request Form." Unfortunately, it is impossible to submit the form. The button never becomes active.

Last, there is an email address ([email protected]) users can contact if they have "questions about this privacy policy". Since they already have my email address, I'll email them. But in the meantime, ScamPulse.com should know about this fake business and troublesome business model. Thank you.
