First I received a text message Friday (11/18) from what was introduced to me as an indeed recruiter (Angelica Diaz) offering me a job at power digital marketing company. Angelica told me to download Microsoft team to get connected with the interview manager. I did. I started then being in contact with Brielle D Anderson. We did an interview over Microsoft teams which she then set up to be scored by HR and then I was hired. I was asked who I banked with, my address for my employee start up files. I was then told it would take the weekend to process my paperwork to get back with her at 8am on Monday on Microsoft teams. I monitor my bank account the whole weekend just in case. Then Monday (11/20) she messaged me about getting started and how I need certain equipment and that the company would provide everything I needed. I asked about hours and what all is expected of me, she then told me I would receive an eCheck for my equipment. I then received an email from James Rodrigo with instruction about the check as far as what to do to deposit it and what to do after I deposit it and the check was in an attachment in the same email. After I deposit the check I was suppose to screenshot deposit confirmation and send it back to him. The whole time I’m getting this check printed Brielle was constantly monitoring/questioning what I was doing and ask for confirmation of deposit as well. So I deposited it and my bank said it would take 24hrs to clear. I asked Brielle a couple more questions concerning the job and then we didn’t talk anymore for the day but I was suppose to once again get back with at 8am on Microsoft teams the next day (11/21). She messaged me the next day to make sure the check cleared so I could start buying equipment and I was trying to log in my online banking and my bank put a hold on my account because the couldn’t validate the check so I was on the phone with the bank while also messaging her on Microsoft teams about trying to get validation of employment or of the company or any kind of paperwork for the bank to be able to use and she said I was the only new employee having this problem and I told her the bank was just trying to do their job their I just needed some simple paperwork to validate the check and then she stop answering me. She went from very persistent to none existent. I tried calling her on Microsoft teams and the call wouldn’t go through. I tried calling the company with a number I got off the website she gave me (powerdigitalmarketing.com) and it goes straight to voicemail. I tried email James with no responds. So I guess I was used for a fake check

I was contacted from an [email protected] saying that an affiliated company was hiring for a transcriber. I emailed the contact, [email protected], and I was asked me to download microsoft teams and schedule a "chat" interview. I found this suspicious and looked more closely into the names used in the emails and the format of the emails themselves. I noticed some inconsistencies in formatting and when I clicked on the link for the interview, it gave me the name of a doctor in New York whose profile pic didn't match the description I found on google.

Similar story to others here; this is a multilayer, pretty complex scheme but I felt pretty uneasy about it from the beginning. I received an email supposedly from Larry Weiner of Tropic Survival that read, "There is a current job opening in one of our affiliated firms, POWER DIGITAL MARKETING, as a Content Editor and they are making an urgent hire for the position. Your resume was gotten via candidate search on Indeed, LinkedIn and Ziprecruiter. If interested contact the Hiring Manager Lindsay Garmon via email [email protected] for more information on the position and the company." I immediately was wary given the extra "s" in her email address (marketings), but wanted to stay positive. So I sent Lindsay an email and my resume, and she wanted to move forward with a Skype interview (not sure what legitimate business would actually use Skype anymore lol but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt.) When the time came for the interview, the link she gave me wasn't working, so I messaged her and was then informed it would be a chat to chat interview. Some of the questions were repetitive but seemed mostly legit, and she also provided information about the tech setup I would be receiving from the company and the programs I would need to be familiar with. Her tone was weird though; punctuation was often missing, everything was pretty cold and abrupt, there was no warmth or individuality to the chat. She also didn't ask me anything about my previous work experiences or about myself, which was strange. At the end of the interview, I was instructed to check in on Monday morning, at which point she offered me the job on Skype chat, and then I received an email from HR with the standard documents—which had typos and weird stuff everywhere, and lots of important information omitted. I finally lost hope that this wasn't a scam, which is when I found these other reviews, and contacted their real head of HR on LinkedIn to let her know that someone was trying to impersonate a team member from their agency.

I applied for a transcription job on the job search site Indeed. A few days later I received a text asking me to join a room on Microsoft Teams for an interview. Here is the text: Hello! I'm Mr Daniel Ray from (Power Digital Marketing), currently reaching out to you in regards to your resume being approved for the Transcriptionist job with us for a pay rate of $35.00/hr. Kindly download and set up Microsoft Team (Microsoft Team is a messaging program designed specifically for office uses) Then contact hiring manager Brigitte Talaña on Microsoft Team with this link (https://teams.live.com/l/invite/FEAXH0otmTXinrjuAg) to proceed, and send this interview code (TUD-11232) as a message to commence the online interview/briefing and comprehensive job details, Thank you. text was From #(812)604-1767. I went to teams and began a chat with Brigitte who informed me it would be chat to chat. I engaged with her as she asked me lengthy questions and seemed to be working as a recruiter for clients. I completed a series of interview questions and received a few emails with documents to sign and return including an offer letter, a w-4 form, an emergency contact form, and a direct deposit authorization form. Each step of the way she was helpful and kind. She explained the process very well and kept me informed over the course of 2 days. She informed me that the client would be issuing me a check to purchase equipment and other tools needed for my job. At this point, I became uneasy about the steps but having worked as a contractor in job roles before, I didn’t think it too strange. They sent me a mobile check to deposit and asked me to provide confirmation of the deposit in a summary which I did. I understand wanting to know the money was really used correctly. My bank only deposits a certain amount of mobile checks to ensure they are legitimate so the summary showed that only $400 would be available today and the rest tomorrow. She then came back and asked me to Zelle $400 to the vendor at [email protected] towards equipment and purchase the rest tomorrow with the rest. I immediately got res flags and called my bank to freeze my account! She got all my personal information and banking information! What a fool I am. I messaged her back to tell her my bank froze my account to which she replied the vendor would stop payment on the check. She was very good! She gave me legit names of tools and used a legit marketing name. Here is the list of programs she gave: Below are the list of softwares you will be working with;?-aText (runs on Mac and Windows)?-PhraseExpress?-Breevy?-FastFox?-FastKeys?-TextExpander?Are you familiar with any of the softwares ? Fortunately she did not get my money today but they have all my personal information to use. I am notifying everyone I can to watch my credit report as well.

I received an email from someone purporting to be a VP of HR named Bridget Talaña offering me an “urgent” position. I also received another email from an employee of a so-called sister company reminding me of the first email. She said she found me on LinkedIn, Indeed, and Zip Recruiter. She said to set up a Skype account for a “Better Business Bureau online interview,” which I did. At the appointed time, the Skype didn’t work, and she changed the interview to be by text. I unfortunately entered my name, address, email, and phone number, but wasn’t asked for financial information. I was asked to check back the next day to see how my interview was progressing, which I didn’t do. Instead, I did research. I didn’t find find anyone named Bridget Talaña on the Internet, and I noticed that there was an extra letter in her email address, which read [email protected], an “s”. I then blocked her email and the other person’s who contacted me email.
