I received an email from [email protected] for an interview. He said we would conduct the interview through teams and he said that I would receive a check to buy the required software and hardware products. He said $400 from the check would be my signing bonus and that I would be receive instructions for purchasing the required items from their vendor. The next day, he emailed me an employment offer letter that looks incredibly fake, using non professional font, the logo being stretched, the start of the letter beginning at the bottom of the page, date being in an incorrect format, signature lines hardly big enough to sign, having “Very truly regards” below the signatures, then his title changing from “HR manager” as we original met to “Immediate Supervisor” when the job was for Technical Support Manager. I haven’t received the bogus check yet but I have no plans to even attempt to cash it when it arrives, and I’ve blocked all contact with this person. He identified himself as “Michael Mars”. Don’t get scammed, he’s trying to trick you into filling out a W4 to take your social. Thankfully I realized it before I did it myself.

An individual claiming the name Kelvin Tan from Presico Engineering claimed to have seen my application on his Job AD posted on careerbuilder. The text said to let me know I was interested. It read (THIS IS A REMOTE JOB OFFER) I said I was interested figuring that it was legitmate since he claimed he saw me on careerbuilder.com. He listed the following positions available: quality manager, logistics manager, business development manager, account manager, technical support manager, senior IT project manager, customer service, administrative assistant and data entry/engineer. I said either customer service, administrative assistant and data entry. Kelvin Tan said to download the Teams App and to log into the chat room. The individual whom I chatted with in MS Teams went by Michael Mars. I was asked common interview questions and was offered a position as a customer service representative for $75 per hour after $30 an hour of training. Michael Mars listed the various items required to perform my work. Some items included high speed internet, a new MacBook, a laserjet printer, software to monitor my work hours amongst other items. He stated I would be sent a $4,900 check for all the business equipment required to perform my job. This was contingent on me signing and dating a Presico Engineering PTE LTD Employment Offer Letter, which I did on August 4, 2023 and provided a signed W4 tax form, which included my social security number. After I met the requirments for the $4,900 check, I received an email from [email protected] with instructions on how to print out and upload the check into my account. However, the check had a hold on it all the way to August 15th, which was well over a week. I stated this to Michael Mars. He then asked me to provide my own funds for the business materials required to perform my job. He asked for a total of $2,000 but not initially. He also stated that the $4,900 check would be usable by Monday, August 7th, 2023. I checked around 8:00 CST and saw that it was still on hold. Unfortunately, I'm out $2,000. However, I don't want anyone else getting scammed by this company. While Presico Engineering does have an official website and is headquartered in Singapore, it has shown to be an absolute scam. No company should ask its employees to pay for business products after sending what appears to be a fake check and has a week-long hold on it.
