I was looking to book a hotel room. I looked at a couple third party websites (TripAdvisor, Kayak). Having had positive experiences with reputable websites in the past, I booked through a new third party website, Prestigia that looked similar to any other hotel booking site. The name of the hotel, Clift Royal Sonesta San Francisco, the dates that I had originally searched for on TripAdvisor (Oct 24-26) automatically populated. I attempted to purchase, however my credit card did not go through, which is highly unusual. I contacted my credit card company, thinking that my new card that I had just received, perhaps hadn’t been activated or that I had mistyped the new security code. After I authorized the charge with my credit card company (Capital One), I was also asked to leave a second email and phone number, which I tried to skip, but was unable to complete the booking process without completing. Very suspicious. I then received an email with the following message:

“Dear [mis-spelled my name],

This is an email to advise that we have pre-authorized your payment.

Once the booking is confirmed, we will send your voucher with the details of your reservation.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please email us at [email protected] and we'll be happy to help.”

This is the point at which I realized that my purchase had been to a company that purports itself to be a third party booking site, but it does not in fact book hotel reservations. What it does with the charges or what the “voucher” is for is completely unclear. I am attempting to resolve this directly with Prestigia and with my credit card company, however I strongly caution against using Prestigia.

The company charged my credit card and never paid the hotel for which a booking was made.

We booked a hotel for a Christmas vacation in NYC (Park Central Hotel) using prestigia.com an online booking site. On the day of our departure for NYC from Charlotte NC on December 24, our flight and all other flights were cancelled due to severe weather conditions. We spoke with Hotel staff and manager and they confirmed cancellation without any charge because it was not our fault. Prestigia on the other hand will not refund us and claims that the hotel declined our request. And that Prestigia.com has no liability and will make no refund in the event of any delay, cancellation, overbooking, strike, force majeure event or other causes beyond their direct control as a policy. This I think is an unfair practice, to be charged of something for a situation we have no control of. I am asking for your help to look into this and stop this business as it affected us so much and there will be more victims of Prestigia.

My credit card compnay informed me of a fraudulent charge. I tried contacting prestigia.com to ask about the charge and it takes me to the same dead end recording.
