I discovered a company online and decided to purchase gunpowder and primers for an ammo reloading project. The only available payment options were Zelle and PayPal, which I found unusual. Despite my reservations, I completed the transaction using Zelle on Friday, September 29th. However, on October 2nd, I received a text requesting an additional $100 for a refundable hazmat insurance, which had not been mentioned during the website's checkout process. This made me suspicious and concerned that I might be getting scammed.

As I engaged in a back-and-forth with the customer service or owner, they consistently evaded my questions and kept giving vague and circular responses. I suggested that they issue a refund for the product and we could go our separate ways, but they refused unless I paid an additional $100 for insurance. Given my lack of trust in this company, I did not want to provide any more money without adequate protection. This has been the most unpleasant online purchase experience I have ever encountered. I warned them that I would contact the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and their response was dismissive, which speaks volumes about their legitimacy. Considering all that has transpired on October 2nd, would you be willing to give someone more money without any form of protection?
