MY PRINTER WAS NOT WORKING - SO I GOOGLED printer repair for HP printers. An HP printer repair service website came up and I called them. The person then asked to access my computer to see what the problem was - and I let them. I was told that someone had hacked my computer and I needed to get firewall protection - then they took me to a website called SHAREPOINT, and I proceeded to purchase the protection service, authorizing the credit card purchase. Later that day, a friend told me it was a scam, and when we looked up the phone number, it turned out to be in INDIA - I had a computer service check my computer and wipe off the access that they had done to my computer. The worst thing is that they have since called me back 3 times, to tell me to renew my service -and each time I told them I knew they were frauds, and they hung up on me. the phone operators are in India, but they are based also in the states. When you call the number to ask for help repairing your printer, they convince you they need access to your computer to discover the problem- then they convince you you have been hacked and need this expensive protection service, which is nothing.
