Type of a scam Online Purchase
- Horse in the ad didn't match the pictures sent
- The phone number was a textmail number
- The horse was in a different state than the ad said
- Contacted Horseclicks and they investigated and said it was highly probably it was a fraudulent ad and they pulled it from their site.
- The shipper website looked good but was not secure and the address for the shipper office was in MN and did not check out (was an airfield) their phone number was also a textmail number. The shipper contact had the same voice and strong foreign accent as the seller. Their system was down and only could accept cash on shipping less than $3000. The Boston office for payment also didn't check out (single family home registered to a family)
- The owner address was an unoccupied house ( I found a neighbor and called them)
- The barn address didn't check out,
- They claimed hardship when I offered to pay on delivery even with 20% premium for their trouble
- The bill of sale had a vet signature and name that could not be found
- Of course in the end not a single fact could be verified. It all depended on the buyer falling for the seller stories
- Any attempt to get answers on the above led to "reduced" shipping cost to entice me into sending something along with more complaints that I didn't trust them
- I told them I was flying up to see the horse and all communication stopped
- I went on with this for many exchanges to gain knowledge on how far they would go.
PLEASE in a google world you can check all the facts even if remote. From what I have seen the scam would be to get you to pay shipping followed by additional requests for money through a non traceable Moneygram or other process. Saw one example for a Horseclicks scam that the buyer lost $2,800!
