Type of a scam Debt Collections
on 1/8/20 if I did not settle a debt for Citibank that was well over 5 years old and already settled. She threatened me, used lots of legal terms and kept going around my questions. She had all my personal information, including last 4 of my social security. She had all the exact dollar amounts of the balance I insisted I had paid previously. Her threats for courts and getting sued were very intense and I did not know what else to do. Being in the middle of trying to purchase a home, which I should have never stated, she used that as another threat stating this would delay my loan process up to 6-9 months. She was very aggressive and persistent that she was from an attorneys office based out of Miami, Florida. She gave me a website, https://www.algpl.com/contact-3, that pulls up a different attorneys website, which I should have checked while on the phone. She gave me a very brief disclosure before asking for my card number and told me a would receive an email to sign, which I did not. She told me if for any reason I did not get the email, to contact her immediately the following morning. Shortly after the call, I called my bank to put a stop to the then pending payment. I had my card frozen, then cancelled. The money was still drawn and posted to my account from a company out of a Buffalo, New York. The bank gave me a contact number for the company that took my money. It was not a working number. The following morning, I tried to called “Jennifer Alston” back and the number was no longer in service. Now I’m fighting my bank for my money, even after putting a stop to the payment and reporting the fraud, for what I recognized as a huge SCAM.
