The scammer Posted on Facebook marketplace about a rental property, Made a scheduled time to meet , Asked for 300 for a deposit and even gave the address to meet. Once they received the money, they blocked my number, Blocked me on Facebook messenger and took the money.

This individual had a separate individual post about their property for rent in Gastonia, NC on Facebook marketplace. Facebook individual provided us with the phone number of the property owner. Owner of property requested $60 to process application fee and back ground check to be sent to his lawyer using PayPal. I have already made a report on PayPal. My background check was processed immediately and I was then told by property owner that I was approved to rent from him. We scheduled a viewing for the best day but owner refused to move forward until we paid his lawyer an additional $300 and then we would owe him $1100 once we meet up to get the keys immediately. When I asked to view the property before signing any papers or making anymore payments owner seemed to be offended and stated he needed the paperwork done immediately. He previously gave me permission to drive by the house so I did and there seemed to be people living on the property. Owner stated he was from Fayetteville and had to drive to Gastonia to meet me. He stated he got off of work at 4:30 and could meet me at 5 however I was concerned because Fayetteville is over an hour away from Gastonia. Owner had previously stated the home was move in ready and when I asked about it being obviously lived in he stated they were packing and that they would move out by the weekend. I shared I did not feel comfortable with making anymore payments but would still be interested in the property to which there was no reply afterwards. This individual claimed to be a Ronald Sanchez and even sent a picture seemingly wanting me to feel bad for questioning his authenticity. I believe from the beginning this was a scam, but sadly realized only after making an initial payment.

This happened in February around the 27th. I put and deposit down for a $1000 through online banking transfer. Adam said he was going to send my lease either that day or the next. I never received it that day so I waited and asked again. They didn't respond so I asked for my deposit back.  Adam Mittmier said he works under Mid South Realty. I talked to someone who was supposedly from there. She knew what was going on so she called him after me trying to contact him. He never answered the phone or text he answered for her then she hung up in my face. However, I received and email saying they refunded my money but when I first said I wanted my deposit they told me I had to wait 60 days and I had to send them an address before they could refund. So I sent address. When they emailed me it said they transferred but I never got it.
