- Saint Paul, MN, USA

Caller to ScamPulse.com public info line says received a letter claiming to be from Publisher's Clearing House, notifying her she's a "2nd Prize Winner" of millions of dollars, and enclosing a check for $7500 to cover "taxes and attorney fees," etc. Was instructed to call a number in the letter to speak to an "agent" to confirm prize, then take check to the bank. ScamPulse.com explained to caller that this is a variation on a common sweepstakes imposter / check-forwarding scam; if she had attempted to deposit the check, likely would've been asked by "Publisher's Clearing House" to send them back a check to cover "taxes and Fees," etc. Advised caller *not* to attempt to deposit check, and to discontinue communication. Also suggested reporting to US Postal Inspection Service, since attempted scam was via US Mail.
