Not sure if this is legitimate or not. I received a phone call today saying I had won the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes and by 5 p.m. they would be at my home in Westlake OH. They tied up my phone number and had me write down several names and NY badge numbers and was supposed to meet them at a local Chase Bank. They said they were going to pay 1% of my IRS taxes and wanted me to come up with money for the rest of the tax money started at $1,400. but then it was $5,000. I kept saying I didn't think this was legitimate and they supposedly had me talk to Robert Swan Mueller (FBI) who supposedly assured me it was all legitimate. All individual men I talked had significant dialect accents.

I said I could not come up with any money, I'm a widow, senior, on a fixed income. I did not give my SS #, bank account #s or any pertinent information. So they are supposed to call me back on Wednesday 1/03/18 to figure out how I can come up with the remainder IRS tax money. Plus they want a list of my CC bills to pay them off. They called me several times today with instructions (12/30/17) and then said the 5 p.m. deadline expired today due to the fact I did not have the money. They claimed they were supported by the ScamPulse.com and Homeland Security. This is why I am contacting you to see if this could be a scam or legitimate. I am very leary of this whole thing as I was scammed several years ago through my own fault on-line and lost about $700 to Nigeria. I want to be prepared when they call me back on 1/03/18. I do have names and badge numbers that they gave me which I can give to you. I have no idea how PCH contacts you if you are a winner and if all this is necessary. Why would you have to come up with tax money to win money? Thank you.

Received a phone call saying I was second place winner of sweepstakes. Caller knew my ex-husband's name, son and step son's name along with the old land line phone number at time of marriage. Caller took me through several steps of writing down serial numbers etc., they asked no personal questions and sent me an email from what looked like the company at my being skeptical. The caller stated his name as James Fisher. They almost had me and then said I needed to pay a processing fee of $999.00 before delivery of prize by money gram.

Scammer stated he was from PCH, told consumer she won a car and money. Scammer asked if she would like to accept or decline prizes, consumer declined. Scammer told her to #$%^& herself and hung up.

Stated he was Dale Washington from Publishers Clearing House, saying I won a Yukon Denali and a cash prize weekly for the rest of my life. Ask me to write down a bunch of numbers and repeat them all back to him at once to claim my prize. When I didn't he got mad, accusing me of trying to take him for a fool. Saying derogatory things, playing recordings with perverse language in them. When I told him i was hanging up, he urged to keep me talking by telling me I was behind on my credit cards and my land lord was gonna kick me out.

I received a call on my home phone today. He gave me his name. Peter King. The caller said I was very lucky. I won a million dollars and a Mercedes from PCH. I asked what is PCH. He gave me the name Peter King. He said we are not asking for any money. He asked me a few questions. Do I want this to be public and go on TV. I played along with the caller. He asked my marital status and if I had credit cards. He asked if I live close to my bank. He said they will mail the check to me today. Caller stated it has to be on a new account. I asked why does it have to be on a new account. He replied it is easier if it on a new account. He instructed me to open a new account with a small amount. He said I could take a taxi to the bank. I said I will see if I can find someone to take me to the bank and I can call you back. He gave me phone number 516-331-2819. When I call back I should ask for office manager Deborah Holland. I understood the entire time it was a scam. I know PCH does not call. I wanted their phone number so I could give it to the ScamPulse.com.
