I was invited to Cabo, Mexico, by a friend who had a timeshare with Pueblo Bonito for 23 years. I was very impressed by the location and listened to the timeshare pitch on May 18, 2023. After meeting with the sales agent for a few hours, I agreed to put down a deposit of $1782 and was told several times I would be refunded the deposit if I did not go ahead with the timeshare plan. Immediately after our meeting, I texted the sales agent and confirmed my deposit would be refunded. I was also told it was Mexican law that I had to be refunded within five days if I did not want to be part of the program. We texted for a few days, and after learning more about the program, I decided it was too expensive and wanted my deposit back. On May 23rd, I texted the sales agent for a refund. She responded, "no problem," and asked me to email her. After I sent the email, I sent a text with a follow-up and asked her to let me know when I should receive a refund. That was the last time i heard from her, after several months of disputing the charge with my bank and trying to work with the property. I received a clause from the signed contract stating no deposit refund will be issued. The sales agent fraudulently misrepresented the contract and the deposit clause.
