On December 27, 2022, my partner and I contacted Latasha Crimes through her website RussianBluekitts.com to purchase a Russian Blue kitten named "Jackie." We were looking for that particular kitten due to that breed's hypoallergentic attributes. Ms. Crimes responded immediately and we engaged in communications regarding the logistics to purchase and transfer said kitten. Ultimately, Ms. Crimes said that it would cost $900 for the kitten and for shipping costs to our residence. Pursuant to Ms. Crimes' directions, we transferred $900 to Ms. Crimes via Zelle using the email address she provided and the code she directed ([email protected] with code "RBKJ"). At first, our bank responded that the funds were being held due to suspect scam, but the funds were released a couple hours later. We provided Ms. Crimes with a screenshot of the Zelle transfer. The parties went on to execute a contract. When we began to question Ms. Crimes about the time that the kitten would be transferred to us, Ms. Crimes began to claim that she had not received the money yet. We provided a screenshot showing that the money had been deducted from our account. The kitten was initially supposed to be transferred to us on January 3. In good faith we agreed to wait till January 6 to allow the funds to reach Ms. Crimes' bank. We followed up with our bank a couple times and learned that the funds were transferred to an account at Wells Fargo. We have persisted in requesting the kitten and then eventually demanded our money back. Ms. Crimes promised to have the kitten delivered no later than January 9 but failed to send the kitten and did not even contact us to change that arrangement. The longer this situation has persisted, the more convinced that we are that Ms. Crimes has engaged in a fraudulent scheme. We have demanded our money or the kitten back (pursuant to the guarantee provided on the website and the contract), but Ms. Crimes has not provided us with either.
