I was told one thing and delivered another
A few days later, when niche was discussed for my e-commerce business, I was asked to take my new credit card #2 and purchase $12,500 dollars worth of marketing including SEO, a YouTube video, social media posts to all the major hitters like instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, TikTok , and an implication that all of this is building a business on credit like our forefathers did before. A week later, marketing dept took $10000 to start a campaign that included all the social marketing automation, a promised press release and other ways to get sales. Again, no guarantee of sales but strong implication that it would not take long to see results. My ROI would be phenomenal.
What I received was very bland, generic videos and ads for social media, which included none of my store’s products and generally looked like they were made in 5 seconds by AI. The website, which was reported as fully custom tailored to me and my brand, was nice enough, minus spelling and grammar problems, pictures that did not represent my products, and copy that was vague and suggested I would be available with my team to guide clients through interior design; I just want to sell wall art and decor. As an artist I was looking for a way to integrate my personal work with a thriving site. The business consultant, supposedly helping set up an llc in my website’s name, told me never to get scared and use my own money to pay the credit card bills. The profits would come very soon. Between the first two or three weeks. 60 days have passed with 0 views on my site, almost no traffic to any of my social accounts and absolutely no revenue. It wasn’t until another business friended me on Facebook that I changed my confidence level. Their site was a clone of mine, down to the horrible grammar and spelling mistakes, product images and layout/responsive elements. The ad work was lacking any social input, video reels were boring and off brand, and all materials were promised to be great for the audience. As bills mounted with out sales or views…VIEWS! I decided to follow their return policy protocol and initiate a return of my now $29k investment. The support email for purdesignteam.com kicked back with mailer daemon claiming it didn’t exist. Elevatedmarketingsolution.com, the main company I paid for services, returned my email with a phone conversation, there was a promise of someone getting fired for this egregious misstep and an apologetic decision to redo everything from the website design to the marketing strategy in 5 days. They have two more days. When I spoke with the customer support rep, he didn’t even acknowledge the ROI problem I had, nor did he seem like this was anything to worry about. I have another call with him on Monday, at which time I want to readdress my refund requests. But I don’t want to tell them I think this is pretty scammy. I want access while I take them down. I kept my contracts saved in my files, and have let my card carriers know I believe there is fraud involved.
