At 8:42 Liz called and spoke with me in great detail about my adoption of Jaguar and his nature as I explained my cat and my situation and that yes Jaguar would have a 4 bedroom house to rule in lieu of her apartment. After answering every question imaginable to guarantee I could adopt Jaguar we finally ended the conversation after 10 PM with Liz telling me in the beginning of the phone call, to come see Jaguar “some time this week” to come tomorrow and I’ll send you my address in the morning. I agreed. Liz sent a text with her address at 7:17 AM stating “how great it was to talk to me last night and she and Jaguar will be there all day so come by anytime.” I called the Veterans Hospital because I had just been notified two weeks ago that the application for a service dog for me was approved that I had waited on since 2018 (two year waiting list) and told them that I was getting a cat instead and to give the service dog to another needy veteran since I had spoken to Liz the night before and explained that they were giving me a service dog but I will cancel it to get Jaguar the cat she was fostering so she knew this well before the next contact from Jennifer. I made arrangements to separate the cats until they could become used to each other as I detailed in my application to this company, I then showered and shaved to get ready to leave when I receive a text from Jennifer (not Liz the foster), stating, “I’m sorry to tell you this but Jaguar has been adopted but we have plenty of other cats if you’re interested” at 2:01 PM I copied Liz the conversation or text not believing this was real and she said that since I didn’t text her back she thought I was uninterested and sold it to a woman who magically appeared from Norfolk but Jennifer then said to me that the lady filled out her application first. I’m 65 years old, a veteran and disabled and after my appointment with my doctors at the veterans hospital this angered them too and recommended legal action be taken against them for breach. Liz said she knew nothing about the Burmese breed of cat until she looked it up. So after 10 pm when we got off the phone I looked up the breed and was shocked that a pure bred Burmese (what they represented to me) is valued between $850 and $5,000 I believe this is why they believe that the foster person Liz was bribed or the owner Jennifer who said sorry he’s sold were paid but the VA said regardless that this was abuse and although they can’t be directly involved have recommended Adult Protective Services since they believe a crime has occurred against their nonprofit status for violating the rules and regulations for them to maintain this status. As soon as I told them I was hurt and this was unacceptable they removed all traces of themselves from Nextdoor and from their own website but I have the screenshots and will provide them with uploaded files.
