Applied for job on CareerBuilder. Received email that I had been selected as a candidate for QQ Advanced Technologies, 60 Bloor St E. Toronto, ON M4W 1A9 and they needed a contact number. I emailed my home and cell numbers. A black girl called and left a message that I was one of the selected candidates and would be receiving an email regarding some additional questions. Received the email with 3 questions. I answered the questions. On 2-22-16 received an email from Alex Brown stating I was chosen. The email indicated this company was in Canada and expanding its business to the United States, and opening a branch office in the downtown area and they would be arriving on March 14, 2016, the starting salary, vacation time, benefits and bonuses paid annually along with office hours. It also indicated a check would arrive by mail so I could order stationary supplies and accommodation for the delegates attending the opening ceremony. I just needed to send my full legal name, address and cell phone number. I emailed that information to him. The next day Linda (the same black girl that left a message on my answering machine) called me on my cell phone to tell me that a Kevin would be getting in touch with me on March 10 to establish a time to meet him on March 11. She also said I would be receiving a package. Alexa Brown sent me an email with the UPS Tracking Number of 1Z1719YV0497192066 and to follow the directions in the package.

On 2-26-16 I received a UPS envelope at my door with a cashier's check from BMO Harris Bank for $4,970.00 and a letter requesting that I deposit the check in my account and send a copy of the deposit receipt to the email of ([email protected]) and to call him as soon as it is deposited for further instructions regarding furniture.

I suspected the emails were a scam but really couldn't be sure until I received the UPS cashier check and letter.
