I had a call from “ the fraud department of Verizon.” According to the caller someone was attempting to purchase a phone using “my social security number!” After an extensive conversation I thought I had resolved the issue. However the Real fraud department of Verizon called back shortly thereafter. She told me to go to the Verizon store, which I did, delete my previous account, and basically start over as if I was a new customer. The real fraud department took care of cancelling any potential illegal purchases. I want people to know if they get a call, unsolicited, from Verizon, Hang Up. They use a specific phone number to contact you and will call Only if you call them first.
