A person claiming to be Quick Fix Computer Services called my mother in law and said she had a virus on her computer. They told her they could offer anti-virus protection for 3 years for a price of $399.99. She agreed and paid them the $399.99 using her credit card on Feb 14, 2018. They downloaded a file on her computer. Shortly after, her computer would not connect to the internet and would only operate in safe mode. She turned the computer off and was planning on taking it to a computer repair shop, however, her husband became ill and then passed away. The computer was turned off and not used for several months. Then in September, someone called her claiming to be from Quick Fix and said her computer had been compromised and that the government was involved and they were freezing her social security, her bank accounts and that someone had been using her credit cards. They wanted her to pay $499.99 to fix the problem and remove the hackers. She did not pay the money this time because we told her that was a scam. I called the number they left her and asked them to please quit calling her and that I was going to report them to the BBB. They called again that same evening and my husband asked them again to quit calling.
