My boyfriend and I wanted a puppy.. a miniature schnauzer. As I was researching I found Rainbow Schnauzers. They're puppies were priced around $600 which seemed reasonable. I reached out and they responded quickly. I ended up sending $400 as a down payment and they told me I'll pay the rest when I receive Summer (the puppy). Well, the next day I receive another email from what I thought was United Logistics Express (https://unitedlogisticsexpress.com/tracking_result.php?code=TX19101088). They said I needed to send an additional $600 for issuing a sedative and reserving a special crate to handle the puppy. After that, I received a THIRD email saying I needed to pay and additional $800 for insurance. I thought there's no freaking way this is possible. Fortunately (or unfortunately because I didn't see it soon enough) I had maxed out my Zelle limit (lessons learned here). I told the business people I couldn't send any more money and they said that I could send gift cards as another form of payment... and that's when I realized it was a scam. I'm now out $1000 and there's nothing I can do because it was debit. Major lessons learned here.
