I’ve listed $200 as “lost” since we used the room briefly then booked a separate hotel. We felt obligated to pay for at least one night. The true loss could also include the obviously higher rate needed to book another hotel on short notice. Admittedly we could have stayed, but were uncomfortable doing so after reading up on the place and finding that they may have had problems with bed bugs in the not so distant past.
Lesson learned: do your homework and look up a business on a third party site like yelp before booking anything. But regardless of what we could have done better, the advertising done by this business is highly misleading.
