There is a roofing company named Rangers Roofing that fraudulently endorsed and cashed a check from my neighbor's insurance company, Wellington (processed June 14, 2024), but they weren't listed as a Payee on the front of the check and neither my neighbor nor the mortgage company endorsed or gave permission to do so. They haven't begun any work and it's been over 6 months. I spoke with two people that "work" for the "roofing company" on Thursday, December 19, 2024. I asked the "boss" "Robbey" if he could give a date of when they could begin the work and he told me no. I told him he had until 9 am the next morning to call with a date- my neighbors haven't gotten a call from them yet. I have taken my neighbor's to the Missouri City police (two officers also came by their home), called the Ft. Bend Co. Constable's (for our precinct) and Ft. Bend Co. Sheriff's office- only to be re-directed back the Missouri City police. I spoke with an attorney at the DA's office (I was given that number along the way, too), but they couldn't help us because the police is the one who would have to first investigate.

I even took them to the Truist bank in Sugarland on Christmas Eve (my birthday ;-), where a branch manager told me that their bank usually don't require a signature of endorsement, only the signatures on the front of the check. So, yesterday, I took my neighbors to my bank to get a contract termination letter notarized (see attached), and we went to the address on their "contract." It happens to be the Ion District (4201 Main Street, Houston, TX 77004). They do not have an office at this address, only a membership where they can use shared space. There is no way to determine whose name is under the membership, and no one is using their legal name. Robbey Evans or Evan Robbey is not listed in the state of Texas as being anyone licensed to do anything. However, I have found a name that is similar enough- Robert Evans registered in Tarrant County. I am not saying this is the guy, but it would be great to look into it right? I am an amateur at this and I am at a loss on next steps I could take to help. I got a really good lead that they meet on Monday and Thursday mornings in the meeting space at Ion.
