I was on Instagram and it appeared as though a close friend of mine posted an Instagram photo showing that Rayban was having a one day sale for $30.99 sunglasses. I thought it was too good to be true and went on the website provided. It looked like a legitimate Rayban site. Sometimes designers have separate " sale" sites to sell their older products so I didn't think anything of it. I purchased 5 pairs hoping to give them as gifts to family members. When I proceeded to checkout, it asked me to create an account ( as most sites do). So , I created an account and processed the payment. It was supposed to come to $154.95, but when I received the confirmation of transaction email, it looked very "sketchy", and under the charged amount it says "According to the foreign exchange rate of the bank, the amount showing on your statement will be a bit difference from the price on seller's website. " Immediately I thought this was strange because it said I was paying in Canadian dollars at checkout and it listed the totals - so why would they charge me an additional unknown amount on top of this? That's when I got worried and started to Google " Rayban Scam" and realized that the site I went to was listed as one of the many different sites that was pulling this same scam- hacking Instagram accounts and posting fake ads and different users have said they never receive products at all.This unknown merchant ended up charging me $173 for the order. I tried to login with the account I made and it says there is an error and my email or password never existed on that site. I immediately contacted my MasterCard to hopefully reverse the payment. They said since they can't prove it is a fraudulent site, I have to wait 30 days to see if I receive product before they can dispute the charge. I read the cancellation policy and it said cancellations must be communicared immediately - So I attempted to contact them via the email provided and have not heard anything ( as expected). Now I am forced to wait a month before I can have this resolved.
