Type of a scam Rental
He stated they had told him the rent was $700 and that's why it had caught his attention. The rent is $1800. After our converstation, I looked up the listing on Apartments.com and confirmed that it was a copy of the listing I had placed on Zillow.com. However, they had changed the rent to $700 and used a different phone #. Which was not the phone # the caller had told me. I was able to call customer service at Apartments.com. They told me that this listing was transmitted to them that day from a company called RealShout.com. Neither of us had heard of them. She promptly took action to remove the listing from their site and place a block on it to prevent RealShout from sending it through again.
I went to RealShout.com to try to find contact information. There is no phone # listed and the only contact page comes up as an error message. On the home page it states they send your rental ads to a list of 12 other sites. I went to everyone of those sites to see if my rental was listed there. I found it on ApartmentFinders.com and on Homes.Trovit.com. I emailed both sites telling them this listing was a scam and to please remove it. As of this report to you, both have taken down the listing.
Even though the listing has been removed from these sites, I wanted to report this company as they or someone within their operations is setting up rental scams.
