I was contacted via email on 03/13/23 to set up an interview "The interview will take place online via Ringcentral" and instructed to download this Ringcentral messaging app. That the interview would take place through this app, which I though would be a video interview. Turned out to be via the message app and email only. Over the last two days, I've been instructed to answer interview questions, nothing jumped out as inappropriate during that time. No personal information was requested like Social Security number or banking information. It seemed legitimate. An offer letter was sent via email on 03/15/23 and an email containing a check to set up my home office was sent 03/16/23 with instructions on how to process via mobile deposit. Once I did this, I was to send confirmation of deposit. However, my bank locked my account. After contacting my bank, I learned this was most likely a job scam, even though they hadn't asked for any money back at this point. I contacted the supposed company directly using the phone number on their website. They are a legitimate company trading on the Nasdaq, but this wasn't their job posting. It is a known scam to them. I reported this to my states Attorney General, locked down my credit, placed extra securties on my bank account, and am looking to make sure I have done all I can do to protect myself. I have record of all emails sent and received if needed. I would like to shut these frauds down.
