Cost estimate increases by 3x after pickup
A few hours later I got a call from the "manager" who offered to pick my stuff up and move it for just another additional $500. After spending money to leave me alone I refused to give these scammers any more money or risk giving them my stuff only for it to go missing later. Hire a legitimate moving company because you'll end up paying and stressing less.
After my google search I was able to find “red line vans” a similar sounding company with good reviews but could find not any information about Red van lines.
After finding this website and others having similar experiences I’m doubtful about the companies legitimacy.
Scam Company STAY AWAY
Literally 15 mins later I got a quote from another company (directly in email as attachment with no scammy abusive call!) that is $1200 cheaper AND has many solid 5 star reviews. So much for not being able to find other options...
Mine really can only be a complaint about their advertising/marketing/sales/customer service practices, because - fortunately for me - I only received minimal verbal abuse and did not do business with this 'company'. Sorry for those who did.
Using one of those online searches that spit you to a website that serves to collect basic move info (location to location + anticipated move dates...& my garbage email address) to share with moving brokers and moving companies through an aggregator of sorts, Red Van Lines emailed me with a quote based on my specific move, or so the email(s) suggested. It was a good price ($1298, I believe, which was up to $500 less than other quotes I'd already received), so I called to inquire, stating up front that I've just started researching moving companies but wanted to see if they could actually move my belongings for that price.
When Christopher/Kristofer (?) looked into it, he told me it would be $3700, so I thanked him and told him that was more than I'd be willing to spend. He never cussed or made fun of me, but this is when he started to get aggressive and rude. And when he asked what I was expecting to spend, I told him quite matter-of-factly that Red Van's initial emailed quote was the lowest but that I'd gotten quotes from $1300 to $1800. His angry, curt response was, "Well good luck with that!" And then he promptly hung up the phone.
Who knows what he might have been dealing with, right? So I called back and got a different rep, and that guy was...definitely nicer. He brought the price down to $2526, which was still almost twice what they'd quoted in their email invitation - essentially just targeted spam/phishing - so I told him I would go with one of the other companies' quotes I'd already received but thanked him for trying to get the price down and for not hanging up on me. He got a Little aggressive & urgent with the sales pitch at that point, but he never was unprofessional or rude.
That was the end of my human interaction with Red Van Lines, though I did get several more emails from them, still claiming they'd be able to complete my move for amounts under $1500.
The rest of this is not specifically about Red Van Lines...just about all of those types of companies, most of which seem to be headquartered in Florida.
US Standard Van Lines is a similar company with similar practices, and I still get - literally - dozens of texts and phone calls from them every week (I started telling them a month ago that I went with another company and would not need their services; I genuinely think that, at this point, they're just harassing me because they enjoy it...and they DO have a BBB file, and it already has a lot of complaints lodged).
Judging from others' experience with Red Van Lines and with US Standard Van Lines (and its various associated names) and several others I didn't even bother to contact, the cost-cutting movers & brokers within the industry rather commonly use business practices that are pretty awful, and many of them keep changing their DBA/LLC/etc. company names, seemingly to avoid detection.
So, if you're going to go with one of those bottom-dollar moving companies, my suggestion would be to go through a broker, get your final quote & everything in writing, and Still have a backup plan, if you can (i.e.; a full-refund-upon-cancellation reservation for your own rental truck, scheduled for a few days after your scheduled pickup date so you have time to cancel it), and allow yourself At Least a few days after that before you actually Must leave the residence from which you're moving...because it seems most of these companies Will take advantage of the fact that people don't have time to deal with their [censored] and know they've got you over a barrel, and that's when they're most likely to delay pickup, delay dropoff, try to show up early without so much as calling, tell you that you owe more $$$ for whatever dumb reason they want to make up, whether at pickup or prior to dropoff or both.
I went with Qualified Movers LLC, because their reps were respectful, professional, and made themselves available. Still a little dodgy, especially with wanting you to pay a deposit immediately and then being far less communicative once they've got your deposit. Fortunately for me, my particular sales rep seemed great and made himself available when the moving company who got the job was terrible about the pickup schedule and then started to employ some of these shady business practices. Most of what did seem potentially suspect about Qualified was - in addition to not being able to contact anyone after my payment cleared (i.e.; company contacts & phone lines, etc, were no longer in use) except for my particular sales rep, through might be his personal cell phone - the moving companies with whom brokerage companies like Qualified do business. The moving companies, and also the disconnect about payments/forms of payments/scheduling/etc./etc./et al between Qualified (the broker) and Best For You Moving (the moving company).
Qualified Movers set me up with Best For You Moving, and communication & scheduling was a damn chore, lemme tell you. The moving crews themselves were professional and seemed like very nice guys. They didn't exactly do a "great" job with the actual packing/unpacking and storage, AND they did try to tell me I owed more for this and that and also that and this again, but I just firmly told them each time that Qualified was the broker, and Qualified assured me that my final quote was the total amount I would be paying. The moving crews would call their Best For You Moving boss, Dennis Li, and he would presumably tell them to press the issue, because they did then press the issue, but I just held firm on all the details, financial & otherwise, as per my contract with our broker. They didn't always like it, but they also were ok with it.
The only additional money I paid beyond my final quote from the broker, Qualified, was for tips for the moving crews.
So - anyway - go through a broker if you're using cheap movers.
And even then, don't do business with them if they behave like jerks, expect the possibility of a scam, and be prepared for what will go wrong.
And do not let any broker or moving company pressure you into giving them money until You have decided that's what you want to do.
And then stick to your guns when your moving company tries to change your established contract terms.
Oh. And Red Van Lines is questionable. At best.

-The representative alluded he could not understand me, made fun of me when i gave him my address and said that was not an address (as my address begin with W...S... and then the street name).
-He then suggested I sent him my info via text message and provided his phone number 912-303-5971 and I texted him my personal information, my moving date, pick address and delivery address.
-He quoted me for a move to a 1 bedroom apartment as $2021 and want me to pay the deposit of $652 right away.
-When I told him that I would like to call others to compare as this was my first call he actually interrupted me and said WE WILL NOT MOVE YOU, DO NOT CALL US AGAIN! And he texted me that I should stop harassing them and they will not move me (As if I wanted them to still move me!)
-He then asked two of his friends to call me back to back to harass me further. The numbers were: 754-248-2199 with a name showing as Barfield Erik and 732-567-9702 with a name Stacey Anderson. These two mentioned information i just provided the Red Van Lines representative today for the first time (such as the moving date). They also did not ask me any questions about the move. They first guy said "so you want to move? before i even responded he said it is 4300. The second guy said the same thing and 5600.
- I then performed some researches and realized they are scammers. They company address is in Wyoming and when I called that address the woman who responded claimed she does not know the company.
Their email address is info@redvanli es.com and the address is 412 N. Main st ste 100. Buffalo, Wyoming 82834. When you look up the address you get the phone number 307 554 1800

Type of a scam Moving
I said it was too expensive and I was apprehensive to make any commitment. So he told me he'd talk to his manager and see what they can do. He came back on the phone and said he was able to get me a $400 discount but it only applied while we were on the phone because it was a live quote. I said I will think about it and call them later today. He asked me what he could do to get my business and I said I would probably say yes if the quote was under $2,500. He put me on hold and said he would talk to his manager again. When he got back on the phone he said he was able to get me a further discount from his manager. So I said that sounds better and asked if I was going to get any email quote. He said he was going to send all of the information over to me. While we were on the phone, I started researching the company further and saw they had no internet presence past their limited website. There were no reviews, almost no information on the website, and nothing came up on yelp, etc. This is when he started asking me what bank I used and I told him. Then, he asked for my routing number and I stopped and told the man I wasn't ready to make the commitment. None of the other companies I had gotten quotes for were asking for bank information over the phone, so I was suspicious. This is when he got somewhat upset and insulting. He asked if I had not done my research on them and that he thought I would pay the $1,200 deposit (which he said could be 100% refundable within 10 days if I decided not to go forward with it) if he could get the quote under $2,500. I told him I was not going forward with this and he hung up the phone. I never received any email correspondence from them.
