I have had several people from different numbers with the same business name RSI or refund Services Inc. I can't even keep track of the number of numbers that have been used to call me plus just recently I got a text message from somebody who I didn't know asking me who I was. I blocked them and put them under my scam file. what they did was walk me through the fact that somebody has stolen my identification and that they're in deep trouble in another province. and that there's a warrant out for my arrest and that I need to deal with this right now. I actually believed it and walked through all the different things I had to do regarding identity theft. first thing I did was check out an RCMP badge number that I was given and sure enough it doesn't exist. neither does neither did the phone number that they gave me as a direct number to them. it was just not assigned. so I went through a lot of stress thinking I had to deal with this and change my name and change my social insurance number Etc but then I found out from the RCMP officer I talked to that it was a scam and that scammers are getting more sophisticated and they have no problem in posturing themselves as somebody else. they really didn't ask me for a dollar number but they explained to me that I would have to pay money to get my identity changed. and that they would help me do this if I want it. it's a good thing I found out they were a scam because I probably would have walked through everything and with them because I really did try to get back to them and give them information about myself that they wanted. I just think my lucky stars that the RCMP knew about the scam and that they were on to it. I really hate the world today that we can get scammed by losers just because they sound good. people are praying on the vulnerable and I'm just on disability and it would have totally bankrupted me if I would have got scammed.
