SCAMMER TARGETING BOOKKEEPERS

Guy found me on Thumbtack and agreed to hire me for a 2 year clean up job and ongoing bookkeeping. Had consult with him and sent proposal. He didn't respond for over 2 weeks and said he'd like to move forward. Signed my engagement letter, filled out a business questionnaire with EIN #, state tax ID, etc. Then I sent him invoice which he told me to make out to a different name (his main business as Reliable Star USA is only a d/b/a. This d/b/a does not exist in CA and the main company, although registered in CA it is a North Dakota business and the bank was in Louisiana. He only needed to pay 50% but overpaid the invoice by $40,000. I immediately knew of this scam so I did not send money back to him. Waiting to contact My merchant processor, my bank, the local police and thumbtack. Money is being sent back to original bank account so that owner of that money gets it back. This [censored] didn't fool me...he should be hung! Edward is the name he goes by. Watch out...he's good. DO NOT SEND HIM MONEY BACK BY ANY MEANS. Have your bank send it back to your merchant processor.
