Same story as one of the people here that has also reported this number. The guy went by the name of Ethan requesting $250 Through Zelle or PayPal 15 days prior to our booking. I immediately reached out to Expedia And canceled my booking. The number is 386-235-4040. Upon searching this number online it’s horrifying to see that he has listings not only in Expedia but also apartment rentals. This number is everywhere and is in plain sight. I will do everything I can to make sure he gets caught. It’s not fair to try to scam people who work hard for their money. Who have a family.

Scammer's cell # 386-235-4040
Name: Goes by Asen or Mason
Email: [email protected] (said this email belongs to his wife, Amanda).
Scam Type: Rental via Expedia
Scam Description - After we booked the reservation through Expedia and received our confirmation from Expedia, the supposed owner of the property contacted us requesting that the $250 security deposit (which he called a Damage Deposit) be sent via Zell to the email listed above. When I rejected this option, and suggested that we he could place a hold on the credit card that we used to reserve the room, he told me that he was having issues processing credit card payments but additionally, once we checked out of the room and assuming that the room was returned in satisfactory condition, the hold that is placed on the credit card would usually take a few days to be reversed but he could Zell me back our money immediately. I firmly replied that the option of sending any payment via Zell was not acceptable to us.
He then offered us the option of making the security deposit payment via Paypal, but when I researched the email address he provided me on Paypal's website, an error message stated "recipient can't accept payments right now." When I sent him a screen shot of the error message on Paypal, he replied and asked again if we could make the payment via Zell to the same email address. I reached out and called him several times after that but he never answered my phone call.
