Looking at rentals on craigslist. The rental seemed like a really great deal almost too good to be true and was a “ rent to own” situation. After contacting the supposed Landlord, they did not answer my question about the sale price of the house, or the terms of the lease agreement, etc. these are very simple questions there any landlord should easily be able to answer. they responded with a website I was supposed to go to and enter my personal information. I have done a lot of rentals in my area, and I’ve never been asked to do some thing like this so I became skeptical and started looking into it. After going to the website, it did not look verified or legitimate, so I came to the ScamPulse.com website and looked it up. There are two other people who have complained about the scam on the ScamPulse.com site, I’m not sure how many others are being scammed without coming here to report it.

I did not enter my personal information, but I thought I would give a heads up so that other people don’t get caught up in the same scam. they’re asking for your name, address, phone number, last four digits of your social, birthdate, etc.

I did not get to the part where they ask about my credit card information, but I see that the other two people on this site expressed that was part of the scam.

I was directed to this website when I was trying to find a rental apartment on craigslist -- this is a way for them to get your personal information.

Rental on craigslist in Chico, CA, USA. 06/25/2019

In response to craigslist rental ad for an application/viewing of rental, scammer sent me to the website renttoownlistingz.com

Wanted me to complete an online application through website and then respond to receive application through email. Insisted that i give my email address instead of going through craigslist email. Website also does a Free Credit Score so i'm assuming it is possible that an unfortunate person could put their identification/ss # on website. Through our email communications these are the email address used by scammer.

This seems to be a Phishing scam via a website that obtains your name, phone number and email for the ability to view rent to own homes in your area.
