After I didn't see a large cash back offer come through for airline tickets that I had purchased once, I started digging through their Help files and discovered that you can submit a help ticket for missing cash back. I started doing this repeatedly because again, RetailMeNot routinely did not pay out automatically. Their e-mails in reply to the missing cash back tell you to "clear your cache, activate an offer before putting items in your shopping cart, and don't shop from two different devices." I ALWAYS did ALL of that so that I wouldn't have to worry about submitting a help ticket and yet RetailMeNot still failed to actually pay for their advertised cash back offers, despite me doing all the of the correct steps.
Now, after countless tickets opened, RetailMeNot has informed me they will no longer be "manually" paying me for missing cash back. Apparently *I* have used up my allotment of opened tickets, but they haven't used up their allotment of failing to pay customers for advertised offers. They will claim that whatever store you purchased from did not notify them of your purchase so you must be doing something incorrectly and failing to clear your cache before every purchase. But how am I failing to activate an offer correctly when I have an e-mail from RetailMeNot literally stating that I have successfully activated a cash back offer?? I save ALL of their e-mails and know they are lying about me not activating an offer correctly.
They declined paying out for a Target offer of under $1 cash back because they said Target didn't notify them of my purchase. But again, I have the e-mail from RTM stating that I successfully activated the offer.
This is a scam! RetailMeNot is advertising cash back offers on their website and through their browser extensions and then failing to pay customers for their activated purchases.
I started maintaining a spreadsheet of all missed offers this year in 2024 that I had to submit a ticket for and there are 28 offers totaling over $100 that they tried to get out of paying me. I know most customers are probably not as diligent as I am in keeping a spreadsheet and following up on missed cash back, so I can't imagine how many other hundreds of thousands of people they are scamming out of money. I don't know how there isn't a class action lawsuit yet unless people are just unaware, like I was for several years.
I'm curious how much money I lost out on over the years before I became aware of missing cash back late last year!
