I received a text asking if I was still interested in a remote position with Rightway Healthcare on 6/24/23. I checked my spreadsheet of places I sent my resume to, and did not find them. However, many times recruiters are outsourced, so not unusual. The text came from Alicia Perkins 802-395-1401. She asked me to keep an eye out for an email link to Microsoft Teams interview. I did not receive so I reached out and she told me to look for [email protected] and I did. I thought we were going to set up an interview, but she went right into the interview via messages not video. I was happy because I was not prepared for a video call. I have another file with the correspondence over a few days from MS Teams chat. This ended with a request to come back to MS Teams on Monday at 8am.

On 6/26/23 I was offered the position. I was told my offer letter would come to me via email, training to start on 7/6/23 and I would be assigned a supervisor who would reach out to me via telephone. Next, they would set me up to send a check for company equipment needed for training and work and give me the name of a vendor to buy from once received. By the end of the day, she verified my name and address and said a check would be over-nighted to my home. When I receive the check, I was to message Jennifer Thompson for further instructions.

The morning of 6/27/23 I received my offer letter and employment paperwork from a Gabrielle O’Donahue from email address [email protected]. I completed the paperwork and sent it back. I noticed the name of the company in the email, but did not catch the @usa address. Around noon, I received a UPS package from Allan J McCormick, no phone number, Lacrosse Technology Ltd 2809 Losey Blvd S La Crosse, WI 54601-7366. There was a letter stating to notify John Lewis at [email protected] when received. I noticed the check was from Bravo Wholesale LLC 4077 Lake View Dr Brownsville, TX 78520 from IBC Bank Routing number 114911580 account 1012189759 out of Brownsville. I notified John Lewis and Jennifer Thompson. Jennifer told me to take to the bank and send a picture of the deposit when I have completed. I did so. The bank statement said $400 was in my account now and the remaining would be available 6/28.

Jennifer stated that the account manager said that $400 was immediately deposited into my account and the remainder available tomorrow. Jennifer went on to tell me how they had a new employee get the software locally last week and it was installed on the computer and was not compatible with the company software, so she was going to have her secretary call the vendor and get everything prepped for me, so there would be no question I get exactly what was needed. I was under the impression I was going to go to a store and pick up everything. Jennifer then said that the vendor would be paid by Zelle, Apply Pay, cashiers check or a cash app I was comfortable with. This seemed odd. At this point I am thinking why did they not order the equipment and have it shipped to me. Why send me the money? Then Jennifer sent me the zelle information for payment. Tomisina Larkin – using email [email protected], I was to pay and put my full name in the payment description. I am now very suspicious because this is a person not a company name. Jennifer then asked if I would send the $400 today by zelle and send her the receipt for company records. I told her I was uncomfortable sending a partial payment to a person before all of the money had cleared my bank. I told her I would verify in the morning with the bank and then contact her when I was ready. She then became a little more aggressive, stating she is a vendor who does purchasing for them working with Best Buy and Apple. Then stated I think this is clear. Seems like she could have done all of this without me and had everything shipped to me.

Now all the bells and whistles are going off and I start looking online for scams and came across ScamPulse.com scam alerts. I typed in all names of businesses I had, contact names I had, the phone numbers and nothing. Then I started entering the emails. Nothing came back until I entered the cash app category of ScamPulse.com scam alerts and used [email protected] and 15 pages came up on the website. I read through a few and came across the exact same theme, just different names, companies and amounts of the check. The only ones that I found multiple times was the name John Lewis and the [email protected]
