On 12/13/23 I was online when an advertisement for Brooks running shoes at deep discounts popped up from Macy's. I assumed that these were discontinued colors or something similar because the prices were about a quarter of normal. Being that Macy's is a well-respected retailer and the website certainly appeared to be theirs, I purchased 3 pairs of men's running shoes at a total cost of $59.96. When I was re-directed to another site for payment (rimkims.com), I should've realized that it was a scam. Unfortunately, I completed the transaction. I received email confirmation of my order. After 2 weeks, I contacted Rimkim's customer service because they hadn't provided any shipping information. By now I figured I'd been scammed, so I immediately requested a refund. They then provided tracking information (from China) and asked that I be patient. The tracking was very slow from China, appeared to arrive in the US at JFK, where it supposedly sat for a while in Customs. Then it supposedly arrived in my town in upstate NY where it sat again for several days. When I checked the tracking again on 1/15/24, it said that my order had been delivered. A retired neighbor directly across the street confirmed that a delivery was Not made to my residence that day. Rimkims insists that the package was delivered and asked if one of my neighbors signed for the delivery and if I'd checked my mailbox for my order. This is laughable because a single shoe box will not fit in a standard US mail box such as mine, let alone three! I have to give Rimkim credit for pulling off such an elaborate scam. I'm not one to be duped easily. The $60 they charged my credit card is surely gone. What I fear most is that they now have my personal information and credit card number.
