Rippling Spoof Employment Scam Reports & Reviews (2)

I was contacted via text message about a remote data entry position. I was scheduled for a Zoom chat meeting and went through the process of the interview. At first, I thought it was a legitimate offer because I was asked multiple questions that would be asked during a face to face interview. Towards the end, I realized it was most likely a scam as the "interviewer", Vanessa Wu, claimed that the company would send me a check to purchase necessary equipment for the job. So, the company was willing to send funds to an unknown person without completing a background check, seems unlikely. I was sent an offer letter with Ripplings actual CEO's name and signature on it. I decided that I did not want to sign my name to something that sounded fishy. I then asked "Vanessa" for a contact number for HR so that I could verify the job offer (I would have checked the number against a Google search) but was told that the offer is legitimate and that I have nothing to worry about. I was then told that the number they originally texted me from is the direct number for her department, yet it is a Texas number and they have no offices located in Texas.
