After responding, I was sent a GoogleDoc with "Screening/Interview Questions." I filled out the 15 questions and sent it back. The next day, I was emailed with a job offer. I excitedly responded, and was sent an offer letter from [email protected]. The wording of the email seemed generic and robotic, and this is when my suspicion arose.
Here is that email:
Congratulations on your recent appointment with GameChanger! We are thrilled to welcome you to our team.
Attached to this email, you will find your Offer Letter. Please take a moment to review the document, sign it, and return the signed offer letter via email at your earliest convenience.
Once you accept the employment offer, we will arrange for the necessary equipment to set up your home office/workspace. The funds to procure this equipment will be provided to you before making the purchase and arranging delivery.
You will have the option to choose between the following equipment setups:
Option 1: Apple Setup
- Apple MacBook Pro M2, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD
- Dell UltraSharp 27” Monitor
- Canon PIXMA TR4520 Wireless Printer
- External SSD for backup
- Noise-cancelling headset with microphone
- Wi-Fi Router
- Surge Protectors
- Time Tracking Software
- Project Management Software
Option 2: Windows Setup
- Dell XPS 15, Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD
- Dell UltraSharp 27” Monitor
- Canon PIXMA TR4520 Wireless Printer
- External SSD for backup
- Noise-cancelling headset with microphone
- Wi-Fi Router
- Surge Protectors
- Time Tracking Software
- Project Management Software
After acquiring the equipment, it will be delivered to your designated location, either your residence or a nearby post office, depending on your preference and arrangements with our approved vendors.
Once your workspace is set up, you will participate in a final onboarding session via video conference. This session will include a representative from the Finance Department, members of the Management team, and your designated supervisor. Following this, you will be granted access to the necessary staff portals and directories.
For administrative purposes, please reply to this email with the signed offer letter and a copy of your valid ID (front and back). This documentation is required to confirm your employment status.
Immediately after the offer letter is signed, a check covering the cost of the equipment for your workspace will be sent to you. Once the check clears, we will provide you with the information for the company's accredited vendor. Your training will begin promptly once you receive the equipment.
Please note that by entering into this contractual agreement with the company, you are legally obligated to protect and maintain any company property provided to you, including the equipment and the check issued for payment. Any violation of these terms will result in the termination of this contract and may incur penalties.
