“Roomster,” apparently a for-profit company founded on the premise of assisting individuals with finding housing, is exploiting Craigslist and its users by flooding ads which appear on the surface to be generated by actual individuals. However, when a person clicks on one of these many listings, which seem to amount to roughly half of the listings at any given time, and calls the available phone number, the person receives a reply within a few minutes insisting that they sign up for an account through one of Roomster’s many mirror sites in order to obtain the location of the apartment.

Upon clicking this link, the individual is then required to first provide personal information and then pay, in order to utilize the services requested.
