I signed up for Upwork to do transcription work. I submitted a bid for a project and was contacted by Roxbury Warburton Publishing HR Director Philip Burton. I had an online Skype interview with 'him' and was granted the position. He sent me a contract and a copy of a check for $2700 that was to be used for purchasing a MacBook Pro with the needed software loaded onto it. I deposited the check but my bank put a hold on it. I reached out to the bank to inquire and they said they can't verify the company. I've double checked my 'contract' and there is no contact information on it for this company. My bank has blocked them from access my accounts and returned to the check to them (as far as I know).
