Two people offered seal coating service for our driveway with a card stating S & C Seal Coating. They were driving a white Chevy pickup, very beat up with a license plate beginning with the letters MK and ending in 409. They said they had just done our neighbor's driveway and could seal our driveway professionally for $100 if they could put their sign on our lawn. We accepted and they hurriedly swept off the drive and the man (supposedly named Sonny Marks) began to apply the "professional mixture" with a push broom, leaving streaks. The woman (supposedly named Lisa) kept talking to me as if to distract me from what was going on, and I began to feel like this was possibly a scam. He then told us that it really needed a second coat and could do it for $50 more. We accepted and paid him cash. Afterward, he said he didn't have his signs but would stop back later; he never came back. As he drove off I knew we had been scammed. I called him and told him we were unhappy with the job, he said they would come back and fix it. They showed up the next day and pulled up so I couldn't get a picture of his truck and said they would go get things to clean up the mess on the concrete from the poor job and put on another coat. They never came back, and after asking the neighbor who they said they did work for, he said they scammed him too, but he was able to stop the check. I called several times and asked for a refund (he said it was guaranteed) but he never showed up with the promised refund. They claim to be from Green Bay (or Milwaukee) and will state that they have big contracts with Wal-Mart or KFC. I called the number from the card from neighbor's house at his request, and they told me (posing as him) that they were on their way to Alabama to go do some KFCs down there and couldn't return to do the work. I never accept work from someone just driving up, and I'm embarrassed to say that I did.
