I was checking online on Google for a home safe. I found a Sentry safe for $63.23. I was surprised that it was so cheap when comparing other online companies' pricing, which was over twice as much as the offering on "Today's Deal." The site looked legitimate, plus the website showed PayPal as an option to use for purchasing the safe. I went through the process of purchasing it (listing my mailing address). Usually, when I use PayPal, I never list my email address because online companies would use the one listed in my PayPal account. I never received a confirmation email, and when I checked my email the next day, this company attempted to set up an auto payment profile through PayPal! I contacted PayPal immediately and created a case because I did not set up a recurring payment profile! Upon further review of the email from bogus PayPal, the email address for this company looked fishy and bogus ([email protected]). I also tried to access the website listed in the email, which did not work (http://www.xtremesportsplus.com/). A day later, I received a bogus PayPal email showing a tracking number for shipment using USPS. I checked the number on USPS, which indicated it was delivered "in or at the mailbox."

I never received anything from this bogus seller on the date reflected in the tracking results. I contacted PayPal again and was informed by the PayPal representative that they had not sent that email. I was advised to forward the email to their Phishing department, which I did. Thankfully, PayPal refunded the total amount posted on my credit card (two payments for the bogus recurring payment profile for 63.23 each) for $126.46. It LOOKED LEGITIMATE! I was surprised this was a fake website because I know how evil people and/or counterfeit businesses are online, and I am pretty savvy in spotting phony stuff online. I was fooled this time, and now I am even more leery of getting scammed online!

I hope this experience will prevent anyone from being exploited by this counterfeit business. It is likely a scam if it looks too good to be true! Please be careful when shopping online.
