My elderly mother got a phone call from a person identifying themselves as a representative of safeguard. They told her that they were taking over ADT home security accounts. They told her that they would be replacing all of her security pads and devices and that her monthly fee would be reduced by $15. My mom scheduled an appointment with them for them to replace their equipment. Then after hanging up she got to thinking that it was a scam and called me. I told her to call ADT and see what they had to say. They told her that it was a scam that they have gotten several phone calls from it and to not to give them any more information. My mom gave them the phone number that they used to call her in a DT tried to call that number and of course by that .5 minutes later the phone number had been disconnected. She has notified her bank.
