I went on a website in error: ww1.bellsoth.net, that contained a virus which completely locked up my computer. A window with an 800 number purporting to be Microsoft tech support appeared. I couldn't use the computer, so I called and talked to several Indian tech support people until I was told they could fix the problem only if I paid $99.90. I felt sure they were responsible for the virus; but I thought it was the best option to free my computer. I told the tech that if I found out it was a scam, I would call my credit card company to dispute the charge. That's exactly what I have done.
