Total money lost $30,000
Type of a scam Other
walked off to another "more profitable" job with their equipment. Monday morning, Marlee and Sergey,
the supervisors, came and took the advertisement sign posted in front of our gates, while leaving
all the rubbish, trash and numerous large 6'+ concrete rebar debris in place, which Marlee and
Sergey promised all debris will be "cleaned out in no time". Contractor also left our driveway
blocked with the rocks we purchased on Contractor's behalf for the synthetic grass area planters;
i.e. even fire trucks cannot pass through in an emergency. In total, we advanced Contractor
$30,000 out of $46,529.There appears to be a sinister pattern of taking clients' money & move on to the next victim.
Why we left the job unfinished:
There was a month of instances at the job site where the owner was toxic and overbearing. Nothing we could do would satisfy this client. It came to a head when he yelled and screamed and followed the crew supervisor (a female) off the property to her vehicle. We pulled off after enduring two hours of this harassing behavior and racial remarks to my crew. The simple solution would of been for the client to apologize for the unwarranted behavior and we return to the jobsite to finish. Instead we received a threatening letter to return to work and finish for free or else!
The job was not worth continuing for the treatment we had recieved.
Being nice goes a long way, especially when you work with people. If this was a solitary show of frustration then we would of done everything in our power to resolve the situation.
In 20 years in business we have never gone through arbitration or had a issue so bad we had to walk off the job. I looked up his history on the superior court website and found 41 total cases who he has sued in the past 15 years. This included contractors counter suing for unpaid bills and harrassing behavior.. He has a long history of hiring, harrassing, not paying and suing.
He is trying to ruin our good business reputation with fake accusations of stealing money given up front which is simply not true. We r not in the business of taking peoples money and not completing work. Its a bad business model and we would not be functioning if we operated in such a manner if we had a pattern of doing so. Our only mistake was not vetting this clients history before deciding to work for him first.
