I was on the Upwork website applying for jobs, when I received a notice for a invitation for an interview. I accepted the interview. The message came from a James Hill then I was told to download the Google Chat app called Hangouts. From there I was told to enter the address to a Mr. Ronald Miller. He was the one that did the interview and explained the job to me. He then tol me after the interview that I had the position of Administrative Assistant. I would be making $8.00 an hour during the training and then I would be receiving $25.00 an hour. He then proceeded to ask about if I wanted to be mailed checks or have then direct deposit. After that he said that i had to come back online at 8am my time the next day. Then he said he would tell me the status and update of the check thatI would use to buy the working materials. Then he sent me a job offer letter that I was to print out, sign and return with a photocopy of my license. I did this. Then on Monday I reported in and he said that the accountant was out due to a death. Then I reported back on tuesday and then I was asked to wait online. I did this for about two hours. Then the email came with the cashiers check from Bank of America came and it had my name on it. I was asked to sign it and mobile bank deposit it then send a screenshot of it back to him. I did this. I then researched that night and found a scam from the same company but different job position. But the steps were the same. So I immediately took the necessary actions to protect my accounts.
